Call for Papers

The Limbuwan Study Center (LSC) invites abstracts for papers for The International Conference of Limbuwan Studies – 2020 (ICLS -2020) will take place in Lalitpur, Nepal, June 6-7, 2020. Under the patronage of Kirat Yakthung Chumlung, the LSC in collaboration with its alliances (Limbuwan Study Centers-Bijayapur, Terhthum, Sumhatlung, and Mangsebung) is organizing the interdisciplinary conference.  

The conference aims at bringing together diverse interdisciplinary scholars, researchers, students, and social-cultural and political activists to share their constructive and critical research findings and ideas on Yakthung and Limbuwan in theoretical or practical perspectives.  It also aims at discussing on contemporary and emerging isssues, challeges of Yakthung and Limbuwan.

All researchers and writers are kindly requested to contribute to and help to shape the conference through submission of abstracts and papers. The conference solicits contributions of papers on the following topics and theme.

Theme of  the Conference                                                                                                               

The theme of the International Conference on Limbuwan Studeis 2020  is “Affirming the Roots of Limbus: Shaping the Future” .

Topics to be covered

  • History, Language, Culture, Religion of Limbus
  • Socio-cultural, Religious and Political Movements in Limbuwan
  • Limbus relationship to Land, Resources and Territory
  • Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage
  • Protection, Promotion and Revitalization of Indigenous Knowledge Systems
  • Indigenous  Peoples’ Rights and Movements
  • Ex-Gurkha Armies’ issues and Movements
  • Culture and Globalization
  • Any other areas related to Limbus and Limbuwan.

Language

  • Limbu, Nepali and English

Format of abstracts

The abstract should be limited to 200- 300 words.  The abstract should contain the title of the paper, name and surname of author(s), (if have) affiliation of institution, email, and contact phone number of author/s. It should briefly summarize the paper, including research methodology, bodies of literature the paper engages with, and findings.

Full Paper

The full paper should not exceed 5,000 words. Please follow the APA style guide for formatting, citations, and referencing. For English please use the New Times Roman font 12 point,  Preeti font  14 point for Nepali and Sirijonga font 14 point for Limbu.

Scholars, researchers, and graduate students, social-cultural and political activists interested, engaged in, and concerned with issues of Limbus and Limbuwan.

Conference Registration Fees

Registration fees: Rs. 1500/ (Rupees One Thousand and Five Hundred Only)

Students: Rs. 1000/ (Rupees One Thousand)

The Registration fee covers expenses for breakfast, lunch, name tag and conference program.

The conference fee does not include accommodation[1] and field trips.

Important Date and Deadlines

Call for papers: Dec. 15, 2019

Abstract submission: Feb.10, 2020

Notification of acceptance: Feb. 29, 2020

Submission of full papers: May 15, 2020

Conference date: June 6-7, 2020

Keynote Speakers and Guest Lectures

There will be keynote speech and guest lectures on theme of the conference.

Publication Opportunities

Limbuwan Study Center plans to publish papers presented in the Conference in edited volumes and Conference proceeding.

Journal Publications

The authors papers presented will have opportunities to publish their manuscripts in the following:

Selected peer-reviewed papers in English can be published in:
